Free Public Screening of African Moot

Shameela Seedat’s award-winning documentary, African Moot, will be screened by the CineBa! Film Club on Friday, 16 February 2024 at 16:00 for 16:30. This screening engages the audience on a variety of youth and African issues in the context of an annual competition for aspiring lawyers.

Bloemfontein is the next destination for the film, which has been screened at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, DOK.fest München, Sydney Film Festival, Doc NYC, Helsinki International Film Festival, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, Durban International Film Festival, and the Encounters South African International Documentary Festival.

In this film, the African lawmakers reflect on their thought process through their extraordinary oratory skills and knowledge about the law for the mock-trial at the African Human Rights Moot Court Competition, an open platform and discourse where these young African law students can raise their voice and give their opinions and debate about the most pressing human rights concerns in African region.
